Counting the days until the last frost date? Want to grow fun, rare or heirloom plants that you can’t find locally? Growing from seed is the winter hobby that both you and your garden need.
Instruction will address soil-based and hydroponic methods. Demo setups will be available to explore.
The workshop fee includes a 12-cell grow dome with plugs, digital temp/humidity gauge, watering nozzle, and access to the instructor’s giant heirloom seed collection!
Instruction will cover:
-Growing methods (soil-based and hydroponic)

-Developing a seed sowing schedule
-Choosing/prepping growing mediums
-Sowing seeds
-Watering, heating, lighting
-Potting up
-Hardening off
-Transplanting
-Troubleshooting
Instruction will be provided by Breanne LeJeune of Tomato Cat — a micro urban hobby farm, nursery and home bakery based in Christiansburg. Registration is required so we can plan for supplies. To guarantee a seat in the class, Venmo prepayment is required.
